The Safe and Creative Media Development Fund is organizing a major event, “From Seed to Growth – Creating Media, Building the Future of Thai Children,” a platform that will serve as a learning hub and a center for developing the potential of media producers for early childhood education, as well as raising awareness of the role of media in shaping quality citizens. This event will be held from July 23-25, 2568, at TK Park Learning Center, 8th floor, CentralWorld.
Dr. Dhanakorn Srisooksai The manager of the Safe and Creative Media Development Fund stated that the fund aims to improve the quality of media and media literacy in society, especially among children and youth. It promotes and supports children and youth in developing media literacy skills, as in today's era of abundant media presence almost 24/7, it is crucial for children and youth to be able to analyze, differentiate, and select beneficial media while avoiding harmful media.
Previously, the fund has provided opportunities for children and youth to access quality media, divided into two main formats: media created by children and youth themselves, for which the fund has provided funding to support children in producing their own media, which has yielded excellent results; and media produced specifically for children, which must truly meet the needs of the target audience and respond to the developmental learning needs of children.
Dr. Dhanakorn Srisooksai It's important to emphasize that while creating media for children may seem simple, it's actually a very challenging task. The Media Development Fund therefore prioritizes developing the capabilities of media producers by creating comprehensive training courses covering the science, art, techniques, and innovations. The goal is to cultivate personnel with a true understanding of children's media, and to provide opportunities for those with knowledge and experience to access funding through continuous annual grants. This year, the fund collaborated with Japan and India to share best practices in children's media production and to conduct training for media producers in Thailand. If this project is successful, it will be continued in the future. “The Media Development Fund's goal is to use media to create alternative learning options or an alternative form of education, as the current education system has many limitations. We aim to empower children to live effectively, use media responsibly and creatively, and grow into quality citizens who can live happily. Given the significant impact of social media on children, it's crucial to develop media literacy and digital literacy skills. This requires collaboration from all parties, including the vital role of parents and guardians in encouraging and supporting children to develop into “young content creators,” said Dr. Thanakorn Srisukhsai.
