(April 27, 2569) Mr. Thanakorn Srisukhsai The manager of the Safe and Creative Media Development Fund presented the fund's 2568 annual performance report to the 10th Senate meeting (first ordinary session of the year) at the Senate meeting room in the Parliament building. The report announced the fund's commitment to building a media ecosystem that empowers all target groups with media literacy skills, coupled with supporting the creation of diverse and high-quality media. The fund's direction will also be adjusted to promote media for the purpose of creating "social value" alongside "economic value."
Mr. Thanakorn It was revealed that the operations of the past year were a continuation of the important mission in accordance with the objectives of Section 5 of the Safe and Creative Media Development Fund Act, adhering to the national strategy and government policies as a compass in setting clear goals and indicators in 5 main areas. It also emphasized the concept of media development in the present era, stating that "the Fund prioritizes target groups such as children, youth, and the elderly, or promoting media literacy skills as a primary goal, coupled with creating and promoting media to create added economic value."
Mr. Thanakorn It was also stated that, in order to create media content with tangible value, the fund has partnered with both domestic and international partners, such as South Korea, to exchange knowledge and further develop intellectual property (IP) in order to enhance the competitiveness of Thai media at the international level.
Regarding the direction of work this year. Dr. Thanakorn The fund has been pushed to become an effective mechanism for driving the media industry, while simultaneously promoting inclusive and equitable access to funding. "Today, we have broken down barriers to accessing funding for all groups by revising the funding allocation criteria to give 'small players' or 'small-scale media producers' the opportunity to access funding more comprehensively and fairly, reducing the problem of budget concentration," said Mr. Thanagorn.
Mr. Thanakorn It is emphasized that the fund adheres to the principles of transparency and accountability in every process, raising management standards with a strict focus on good governance, from the project selection process to monitoring and evaluation, in order to build confidence among the public and senators. Furthermore, the fund will review the effectiveness of existing laws, expedite the study and analysis of practical limitations, and prepare for amendments to the Safe and Creative Media Development Fund Act to make it more modern, flexible, and aligned with the changing context of the media industry. Finally, the fund will develop into a Smart Organization, accelerating the upgrading of personnel capabilities and transforming work processes into digital systems (Digital Transformation) under the government's digital policy to increase efficiency, speed, and accuracy.
The Fund is committed to incorporating valuable feedback and suggestions from senators, particularly regarding the consideration of providing small-scale funding to promising producers to expand content diversity in the Thai media market. This will improve operational processes, ensuring the Media Development Fund remains a vital component in creating a high-quality digital society.
