Another key highlight of the conference is the keynote address by international academics and media practitioners, reflecting both "academic" and "professional" dimensions comprehensively. The keynote address will be by... Masato Kajimoto, PhD From the Journalism and Media Studies Centre at the University of Hong Kong, a paper titled “Teaching Resilience: Reimagining Media Education for an Integrity-Driven Information Future” highlighted the crucial role of education in preparing the next generation to cope with a world of vast amounts of information. It emphasized the importance of media literacy and critical thinking, citing examples of how even highly credible media outlets may publish images or videos that do not fully reflect the truth, highlighting the need for caution in media consumption. Furthermore, it stressed that fair news reporting is not merely about providing a balanced amount of information.
Another special lecture by... Steven Gan The co-founder of Malaysiakini, in a presentation titled “Innovating for Integrity: How Digital Media Is Transforming Investigative Journalism and Press Freedom in Asia,” reflected on the crucial role of media in driving democracy. And a panel discussion on the topic "Creative and Responsible Media in the Age of Artificial Intelligence," with the following speakers: Ms. Suphinya Klangnarong Co-founder of COFACT (Thailand), Mr. Rawee Tawanthorong Board of Directors of the Safe and Creative Media Development Fund and Mr. Chavarong Limpattapanee The chairman of the National Press Council and a media scholar, with... Associate Professor Dr. Warach Kruchit The moderator emphasized the importance of the role of mass media in the modern era, raising questions about the necessity of a “fourth estate” in an age of increasingly diverse content producers. The key conclusion was that mass media continues to play a vital role in giving a voice to the underprivileged and marginalized groups. The conference reflected the crucial point that while technology may transform media tools and processes, the value of justice, accuracy, and the fight for the rights of those without a voice should not be diminished. At the same time, media consumers can no longer be passive recipients of information; they need to be proactive and critically verify information to create a safe and constructive media society.
