24th January 2022, Assistant Professor Porntip Yenjabok, Ph.D, an advisor of Thai Media Fund, have participated in the “Launch of the Training-of-Trainers (ToT) Program to Address Disinformation and Promote Media literacy” via ZOOM as a panelist in session 3 “Panel Discussion on ASEAN Sectoral Bodies and Stakeholders Supports to SOME-ED in Implementing the ToT Program”. The event hosted by ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Education (SOM-ED), in collaboration with ASEAN-USAID PROSPECT and the ASEAN Secretariat.
This activity is a part of “Addressing Fake News and Disinformation in ASEAN through Education in Media and Information Literacy” project, implemented by the ASEAN-USAID PROSPECT, which aims to include media and information literacy skills subject matter in the curriculum of ASEAN secondary and tertiary education institutions, through the development of a TOT program to address disinformation and promote media literacy. This initiative contributes to the ASEAN Work Plan on Education 2021-2025, activity 1.1.3 Organise media and information literacy to promote peace education, moderation values and combat fake news, led by the Philippines.
The Launch aimed at:
- Providing an overview of the finalized ToT Program, including its training modules;
- Discussing next steps on the implementation of the ToT Program at the national-level, including the pilot training;
- Discussing strategies to further disseminate the ToT Program to educators as well as other potential means of distributing and activating the resources in the ToT program.
Assistant Professor Porntip Yenjabok,PhD, was discussed possible support to implement the ToT Program during the Session 3.
Thai Media Fund is acting as a supporter, coordinator and facilitator to create safe, creative and constructive media and support people especially children, and youths having skills in media literacy through the working process of network members in every sector: government, private, civil society, academia, professions and local communities. It has participated in this event as a relevant civil society organization and has provided the comments and feedback to the ASEAN Secretariat.
